About Your New Role

Reporting to the Director of Finance and IT, the Head of Procurement will lead Volkswagen Group Australia's procurement function and continue to strengthen and mature procurement capability across the organisation. This role is responsible for implementing best-practice procurement across the business, establishing clear governance frameworks, and delivering value through strategic sourcing, supplier management and commercial excellence.

Working closely with business leaders, you will develop and execute procurement strategies that identify opportunities, mitigate risk, ensure compliance, and deliver sustainable outcomes. The role will also ensure local procurement practices align with Volkswagen AG policies and standards.

Your Main Responsibilities Will Include:

  • Lead the Group Procurement function, including strategy, transformation and annual business planning.
  • Develop and implement procurement and sourcing strategies aligned with business objectives, category management principles and Volkswagen Group requirements.
  • Ensure procurement policies, governance frameworks and internal controls are implemented and maintained across the organisation.
  • Ensure local procurement activities are in alignment with Volkswagen AG procurement standards, policies, guidelines and compliance requirements.
  • Act as the organisation’s subject matter expert providing advice on procurement, sourcing, contracts and commercial matters to business stakeholders.
  • Lead procurement projects in partnership with key stakeholders across the organisation, ensuring procurement is engaged early in business planning, budgeting and investment decisions.
  • Lead end-to-end sourcing activities, including market analysis, tender processes, supplier evaluation, contract negotiation and supplier selection.
  • Manage strategic supplier relationships and key commercial agreements.
  • Maintain accountability for the acquisition of goods and services, balancing cost, quality, service, risk and compliance requirements.
  • Oversee supplier performance, contract management and supplier risk management activities.
  • Lead, develop and mentor the procurement team.
  • Monitor and report on procurement performance, savings and value delivered to the organisation.
  • Oversee Facilities Management service providers, contractual obligations and budget performance.

 

About You:

  • Tertiary qualification in Business, Procurement or a related discipline.
  • Extensive experience in procurement, strategic sourcing and category management, including leadership of procurement teams and enterprise-wide initiatives.
  • Experience operating within a complex corporate environment and managing senior stakeholder relationships.
  • Proven experience leading commercial negotiations, supplier management and procurement governance activities.
  • Demonstrated experience delivering procurement savings.
  • Exceptional stakeholder management and influencing skills, with the ability to build credibility across all levels of the organisation.
  • Proven ability to manage competing priorities and deliver outcomes within agreed timeframes.
  • Sound commercial acumen and well-developed negotiation skills.
  • Experience establishing or improving procurement, governance and compliance frameworks.
  • Strong judgement, problem-solving and decision-making capability.
  • Ability to coach, mentor and develop team members and stakeholders.
  • Strong project management and organisational skills.
  • High attention to detail and a commitment to quality and continuous improvement.
  • Confident communicator with the ability to influence and negotiate effectively without direct authority.
