About your new Role
As the Senior Financial Accountant, you will play a critical role in ensuring the integrity of financial data and the effectiveness of accounting systems and controls. This includes managing the review and analysis of the General Ledger, overseeing daily operational functions across Accounts Payable and Receivable, and ensuring full compliance with IFRS, Australian tax laws, and VW Group policies.
You will also be responsible for the preparation of accurate, timely financial statements and reporting, supporting year-end audits, and assisting with tax compliance including Income Tax, BAS/GST, and FBT. With your expertise, you will ensure smooth financial operations and provide insights that support the business in achieving its objectives.
Your main responsibilities will include:
- Oversee period-end reporting, reconciliations, and financial statement preparation
- Ensure accuracy and compliance in General Ledger postings and financial reporting
- Support external audits as the key contact, ensuring timely provision of audit requirements
- Support tax compliance, including preparation of BAS/GST, FBT, and income tax returns
- Oversee Accounts Payable and Receivable functions, ensuring timely collections and payments
- Support net liquidity management and daily cashflow forecasting
- Maintain master data for AP and AR
- Drive process improvements and deliver ad-hoc financial analysis and reporting as required
About you
To succeed in this role, you will need to possess the following:
- Tertiary qualification in Finance (mandatory)
- CA or CPA qualification (mandatory)
- Minimum 4+ years of professional accounting experience
- Strong knowledge of the regulatory environment and financial compliance
- Advanced Excel skills with excellent attention to detail
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Strong problem-solving ability with a practical, operational focus
- Experience with AASB ESG Reporting (highly regarded)
- Experience in the automotive industry and exposure to SAP GL systems (highly regarded)
